A Floating Cloud Device Powered By Electromagnets

New York-based artist and designer Richard Clarkson creates the Floating Cloud, an audiovisual device inspired by the shape and form of clouds. The “weightless” cloud is held together by a system of rare earth magnets, electromagnets, and a location sensor to keep the cloud hovering at all times. When touched, the cloud fully rotates and moves in a motion slightly upward and downward. Clarkson has also embedded a number of sound reactive LED lights that flash in response to music or ambient sounds.
