Artist-in-Residence Program of ARCUS 2018 IBARAKI

ARCUS Project was set up in 1994 as an initiative of the Ibaraki Prefectural Government being a part of a new social and educational program to Moriya city and Ibaraki area. The aim of the project is enriching local culture through international exchanges, support to emerging local and global artists, educational programs such as workshops and events like its Manabi-no-sato Festival: ManaFes. Therefore, this is a program for those creatives who want to develop a site-specific project closely to local public and artists. Collaborative projects and exchanges are the main topic of the project and ARCUS Staff care about this by facilitating interpretation assist and meetings with Japanese art professionals.

Perks:  Artist is provided with 210,000 yen for living and other basic expenses and 450,000 yen for expense related to any kind of his/her artistic activities. In total 660,000 yen is provided for the 110 days program period
 

Belgrade Art Studio

Located in the historic district of Dorcol, Belgrade Art Studio was founded by the artist Baxx Vladimir and has become one of the main residency programs in Serbia. What makes this program interesting is its flexibility: residents can choose the duration with a maximum of 6 months and there is no limit as for disciplines or projects due to its central aim is offering a quiet and inspiring work place. For those who are interested not just in develop their project but to engage Serbian culture and art, Belgrade Art Studio also offers alternative art tours and events as studio visits, artist talks or exhibition opportunities where to work closely with local curators, artists and collectors.

Duration: up to 6 months
Application fee: eur 450 a week and eur 1450 monthly. Pick-up and drop-off for arrival and departure is included. Special weekend Package of eur 200 from Friday to Sunday including transportation from/to Nikola Tesla Airport.
Perks: They offer a financial aid Package that cover up to 50% of the cost of the residency. The total amount of aid packages varies based on a combination of merit, need and time of year. Complete the financial assistance section of the online application to be considered for financial aid.
 

Residencia Carmencita, La ONG.

La ONG is more than a photography school where to learn about serigraphy, experimental cinema, theatre, performance, creative writing, civic journalism, music production and so on in its multiple workshops. Likewise, it counts on three exhibition rooms, a public library, events as conferences or performances and this residence program at Residencia Carmencita. This vibrant space aim to host those projects, researches or ideas peripherical from predominance art spaces and its narratives.  The program is open to proposals of any discipline that think around image, language and dialogue with local scene.

Perks: Two serigraphy studios, one audio studio, one photography studio and two analog laboratories available for all residents. However, chemicals are not included because it is not possible to buy them within the country. For that reason, residents must bring the chemicals.
 

Photo Meliggoi Residency Program

This is one of those rare opportunities that you can’t let out. Photo Meliggoi is selecting one photographer for the second edition of its residency program that will take place in July in the cultural and archeological heritage village of Meliggoi. The submission requirements include, apart from CV and Portfolio, a project proposal which must study and rethink about Meliggoi area. The jury will value not just those proposals inspired by the local culture and history but those that confront the representation of the area to propose new visions and narratives. The residency program is supported by Photometria International Photography Festival in Loannina where the work produced by the resident will be exhibited during the next exhibition in 2019.

Duration: 20 days. 9th – 29 th July 2018
Application fee: None. There are not extra costs involved. The selected artist is free to use the provided grand of 500€ for travel, production or any other costs.
Perks: Meliggoi Residency Program provides a bursary of 500€ at the beginning of the residency program, free food, accommodation and a small studio with wifi in the village of Meliggoi. Photometria will be in charge of producing an exhibition, with the work realised during this residency program, for the next edition (2019) of their festival.
 
 

365 Haridwar, AZIMVTH ASHRAM

365 Haridwar is the residency program at AZIMVTH Ashram, a non-profit organization that hosts an archeological museum, local cultural entities and a yoga program apart from the residency program. AZIMVUTH are located next to Ganges and foothills of Himalayas; Haridwar is a part borders China (Tibet) in north east and Nepal in south east and it is considered the unofficial Yoga Capital along with Rishikesh. 365 Haridwar offers three types of residence programs: 12 Physical Residencies, Virtual Residence and Special Residence for families. Each Physical Residence are focused on a month and the themes and celebrations related to that month.

Duration: 7, 14 or 28 days.
Application fee: $ 500 for 7 days. $ 900 for 14 days. $ 1450 for 28 days.  Grants of $ 500 to each selected artist to cover little more than one-third of the residency fee.
Perks: Facilities for local collaborations, exhibitions, print media coverage, pilgrim interactions, arts mentoring or access to local music instruments.
