Cinematic Photography Uncovers New York Sleeping

Amsterdam-based photographer Stijn Hoekstra recently travelled to New York and created an extraordinary portfolio of images titled Cinematic New York. Hoekstra wished to challenge the old saying that New York is ‘the city that never sleeps’. By waking up early and venturing the streets of the ‘Big Apple’ at the dawn of day, he captured cinematographic pictures representing a quiet, lifeless city. Almost as though it was something directly from a film in a desolate Western town, Hoekstra defied myths of old and proved that New York really does sleep. An eighth wonder of the world?
